The August Issue
This one harkens back to the good old days with a heavy dose of whitewater. Scott Phair shows us a glimpse of the beginning of rafting on the Kennebec River with his interview with Alan Haley. Paddler of the month Nate St. Saviour heads to a competition at the Reversing Falls in New Brunswick and fares well very well.
Also, Ryan Mahan has some advice for new whitewater dads, including some wisdom from the famous whitewater-paddling Jackson family. Here's a great photo of him and his son Elias taken just last week at Limington Rips on the Saco River.

Also, Deb Moulton offers her mountain bike manifesto, as well as sharing with us her forage into racing.
We have a new column debuting from Dr. Kathryn Miles: Backountry Bistro. In this issue, Kate shows us two great recipes: Ballfield Fajitas and Black Bean Soup - the catch is you have to cook them at your campsite!
Whit Horn is this month's cover boy. He's shown here running a probable first descent on Poplar Stream Falls. This great photo sequence was taken by Gary Pearl. Enjoy the issue!
