Since 2002, we have been serious about producing a humorous outdoor publication for the state of Maine ... a publication open to honest expression and free of foolish sensationalism ... a publication priding itself on its wide representation of authentic Maine voices ... a publication run by a small staff of people whose work is as much a part of themselves as it is a part of No Umbrella.
No Umbrella is a publication real enough and raw enough to be one of the most talked-about papers in the state, and we want small independent Maine businesses along for the ride.
No Umbrella is looking forward to another year of growth in 2007:
-Eight issues scheduled for publication.
-40,000 FREE copies annually distributed to over 200 locations throughout Maine.
We are prepared for these numbers to double within the next year.
-20,000 hits on our website each year.
I am also proud to announce organizational partnerships with three distinguished outdoor organizations here in Maine: the Maine Canoe and Kayak Organization; the Penobscot Paddle and Chowder Society; and Portland Ultimate. No Umbrella will be publishing official content for all three of these organizations this summer. This is an exciting development for the organizations themselves and for businesses looking to reach the individuals involved with them.
Sponsors of No Umbrella receive these benefits:
-Display space in print edition.
-Web banner ad on the web edition.
-Sponsor listing in each print edition and online.
-Thousands of readers statewide.
-Rates as low as $14/month.
In other news, we have found a year-round location in Portland. This new location's proximity to the Postal Service's bulk mail center allows us to be five times more efficient with distribution to independent merchants statewide. The Upper Kennebec Valley is in our heritage and will remain a vital No Umbrella market for distribution, events and collaboration in the future.
Kristen and I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years. This support serves as both evidence to the value of our work and motivation for us to continue. We truly do appreciate it.
No Umbrella is available free at independent merchants throughout Maine and the northeast. Click here to bring No Umbrella to your location.
