By Nick Callanan

     Name: Chuck Mathieu
     Age: 22
     Hometown: Moscow
Education: Senior, mechanical engineering technologies major
Favorite kayakers: Adam Swett, Greg Gnecco, Glen Dunlap, Hutch Brown, Jack Schurman, Jake Hewke, and of course myself.
Favorite non-kayaking athlete growing up: Anna Kournikova
Favorite five rivers: Kennebec, Seboomook, Lachine, Gatineau, and the Kennebec.
Dream trip: A yearlong tour around the globe paddling all the biggest waves at the best levels.
What you want to be when you grow up, and why: Rich, so I can boat when I want, where I want.
Props to: My mom, and Jay Schurman for hooking me up with my first boat when I was 14.
Boats owned: Eskimo (Kendo), Pyranha (InaZone 230), Dagger (Ego, G-Force 6.3), two Liquid Logic Airheads, Liquid Logic (Big Wheel), Necky (Orbit Fish), and the Haad is coming soon.
     Dream job: Door-to-door salesman.
Worst river trip ever: Every trip's good when you're on the river.
Best river trip ever: It's a tie between two Canadian adventures. The first trip was four summers ago; Jack, his little brother Bobby and I went to Canada for a week. The boating was amazing the whole time, I had never seen anything like it, and neither had Bobby, but he did not boat. Bobby spent the trip as our shuttle driver. When Jack and I put in for our final run down the Gatineau River there were two full bottles of Smirnoff Vodka in the van, and when we got off the river that afternoon, only a few shots were left in the second bottle. After yelling Bobby's name a few times, he acknowledged our presence and celebrated by finishing the last of the booze. The rest of the afternoon was spent chasing Bobby around the field at the take-out (on foot and with the van), and as we began our trek back to Parlin Pond, Bobby got sick and stayed sick for the remainder of the 15-hour drive. The second trip was only a weekend trip to Lachine with Jack, Jake, and Geibs, but it was one we will remember for the rest of our lives because of new nicknames, strip club camping, big wave ripping, crazy hitchhiker chick harassing, and bum fight watching.
