Review: Mount Surf Basic G skirt
Retails for $80.00
By Josh Geib

Wow.....Mountain Surf has once again proved itself as a leader in spray skirt industry with the release of its new Basic G bungee skirt. This is Mountain Surfs skirt for the paddler on a budget: it retails for $80 and is worth every penny. This skirt kept me bone-dry through 2 hours of paddling at Limington Rips and at Sheepscot. I wore just Board shorts and didn’t get a drop of water on me.
This Skirt is almost identical to the Dur-O Ring skirt but it doesn’t have the aramid fiber laminate around the around the edges. If you are looking for high performance go with the Dur-O-Ring....if you’re looking for a skirt that won’t drain your wallet and will keep you dry and cozy, pick up the Basic G skirt
The tunnel is super comfy. Mountain surf has perfected the bungee cord technology that make putting the skirt on much easier, and helps the prevent the skirt from slipping off the rim of your kayak when putting it on. The bungee cord also helps prevent skirt implosion. Though, be careful when trying loops if you’re using a ZG with this skirt: it did come off once at the Sheepscot.
But, if you’re tired of patching up that old skirt with neoprene repair goop, and not ready to throw down the big bucks, then go and pick up the new Basic G skirt at a Mountain Surf dealer near you.
