Again we start at the famous Gadabout Gaddis Airport where you can arrive by sea, land or air transportation. This week we will visit Indian petroglyphs* along the banks of the Kennebec River. So here we go. Take a right out of Gadabout Gaddis Airport and head south on Rt. 201A. Go 6.9 miles and turn right onto Rt. 201A. Go 1.2 miles to the end of the bridge. Take a left and go seven telephone pole lengths or .3 miles to the small sign on the left that says you can go view the petroglyphs. There is also a white house with black shutters across from where the sign is. This sign gives you permission to go through posted land, so please always respect the land owner by using the carry-in carry-out policy. It is a short hike to the first petroglyph. Splash water on them so you can see them better. Don’t stop there: continue along the banks to see more. Enjoy your hike back in time.
